What makes a successful entrepreneur? Is it luck, or maybe the genes they were born with? Analyzing the most successful entrepreneurs on Earth I have found out that they all share these five core qualities that have made them as successful as they are. Fortunately, none of them are inborn, and with hard work and dedication, you can master them all.
Discipline is the single most important quality for success in anything that you do in life. Entrepreneurs define their goals clearly, and every day they work hard with the discipline to achieve them. Self-discipline increases your mental strength, so when the hard times come, you can deal with them easily. Without discipline, a dreamer is only a dreamer. Mastery of your will is what turns your goals into a reality.
If you decide to be an entrepreneur you will probably fail a lot, and things will get rough. Persistence is to keep trying, even when you fail until you achieve the desired result. Thomas Edison made 10,000 attempts to create the light bulb until he finally made it. Colonel’s Sanders recipe was rejected 1,000 times before a restaurant finally picked it up. Entrepreneurs fail many times, but only the ones that keep trying become successful.
Many people are willing to dream, but not all of them are willing to work hard to achieve that dream. A successful entrepreneur is regularly the first person to arrive at the office and the last person to leave. Elon Musk constantly puts in 100-hour workweeks. Hard work pays off.
Thirst for Knowledge
Successful entrepreneurs never stop learning. Warren Buffet and Bill Gates were once asked that if they had a superpower, what would it be. Both of them answered, “the ability to read faster”. There are many great books that you can read on business, marketing, and entrepreneurship; and even if you do not like reading, you can listen to audio-books and podcasts, or enroll in seminars and online courses. For a successful entrepreneur, knowledge is power, and learning is a lifelong journey.
The reason why successful entrepreneurs are willing to work hard and invest many hours in their business is that they genuinely love what they do. They transmit that passion to everyone that works with them, which motivates them to work extra hard. Passion for your business will bring you personal fulfillment that goes beyond money. It is passion that drives the purpose of outstanding entrepreneurs.
